Flooding and it is only going to get worse
When I accused D’Arcy of stealing our weather I should have kept my mouth shut.
Rain
More rain
A bit more
… and that is just the start - more to come apparently.
Pic courtesy of Clares Dad, taken in York. York as in old Viking and Roman settlement. IE. a place that can trace flooding back “quite a long time” … and still floods. Routinely.

yeah. sorry about that. we can take some of the wet back for awhile to let you folks dry out a bit. it might help keep Stampede Week a bit saner if it pours like mad here for 2 weeks or so…

A sane stampede just wouldn’t be right - Yahoo! ;)

Thanks for posting the picture Chris. Only hope that it heightens peoples’ awareness to York’s annual problems.

not really a problem in york tbh. most of town built a 15ft above the level shown in photo. york was selecte by romans to build on cos of transport links by river AND the fact that it was well above the surrounding flood plains.
its just the ‘wharfside’ areas that flood all the time…

Not really, every couple of years River Ouse bursts its banks, the center has been flooded on numerous occasions, I was there a couple of years ago and we couldn’t get near the center because all the roads were blocked or flooded
