Why I think Second Life will fail and virtual worlds will succeed

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

It doesn’t matter how many people tell me about Second Life, or who for that matter. I’m just not impressed.
Don’t get me wrong, the idea sounds great. I even think “virtual worlds” will succeed. More on that in a second. Here is why Second Life leaves me cold:

The experience sucks - slow, plodding, fiddly. And [...]

WordPress Custom Fields Contest

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Aaron is running a WordPress Custom Fields Contest
The contest is simply: who can demonstrate the most effective use of custom fields on their WordPress blog.
I’m going to follow this with interest because while I am a big fan of the software, I never think of it as anything other than a straightforward blogging [...]

Facing Your Fears

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Many things in life seem complicated. I have a habit of complicating things even further. I’m sure you know someone like that, “over-thinkers”. Really when looked at objectively many challenges come down to one thing; facing your fears.

Going back to Canada

Friday, January 19th, 2007

We can’t afford it but we have booked another Canada trip anyway. It’s coming out of our “One Account” which is one of those bank accounts where all your finances are bundled together, so your savings if you have any is counted off your mortgage. Effectively we are overdrawn to the tune of our mortgage [...]

What happened to the blog critiques?

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

I was noisily reminded today that I promised blog critiques and didn’t deliver. Well stuff came up. Big gnarly stuff involving lots of hair pulling and sleepless nights and transatlantic phone calls to hosting support people who just want to get you off the phone and learned customer service from the Dogbert school. Anyways, they [...]
