RIAA Nazis Bully Russians into ending AllofMP3

Evil music industry fascist asshats from the USA have scored a victory over consumers and Russian sovereign law. It seems while at the same time apparently confirming that AllofMP3 is in fact legally operating they have strong-armed Russia into taking away their oxygen. Nice one, score +1 to the dark side.

These idiots won’t be happy until we are all paying them taxes directly for even thinking about music.

It doesn’t matter than the service was popular because it was cheap, convenient and DRM-free. IE. what the consumer actually wanted rather than the DRM-crippled-pain-ware the RIAA want to foist on us. The music industry want us to enjoy music under their terms or not at all. Actually correction; I think they would much rather get their income (and sadistic jollies) by suing hurricane Rita survivors, old ladies and children. That way they don’t have to share with the recording artists I guess.

I can’t bring myself to use iTunes. Anyone know of a reasonably priced music subscription service that serves the UK, has a good library of new and old music and that works with iPods?

No, didn’t think so.

Chris, I use emusic which has a new british based subscription service. It’s mostly alternative groups and the like, however, so not good for chart stuff, but great for mouldering old folkies like me.

Looks ok, do you find you download £9 worth a month (or whatever)?

I use my full allowance each month either searching for artists I know or using the recommendations. I even bought a top-up last month when The Divine Comedy back catalogue was added. You can browse the catalogue for free and there’s the 25 free downloads offer if you want a proper try out. It’s not the bargain it used to be - when I joined it was a US service only and I paid ten dollars.
