I’m up for a moosing …
Right after seeing registration was open via D’Arcy I am in. I am going to Northern Voice 2007, w00t.
I’m not good in conference/networking/social/etc situations but I am looking forward to this. I figure at worst I can sit quietly and listen and still get a lot out of it. Before conference we plan to spend some days in Calgary looking at houses, visiting family, then some vacation time in Banff and Vancouver.
Sometimes people are surprised to hear I am not good in social situations. I’m just really frightened when meeting people for the first time. Just not good at it. Yes I have done quite a bit of public speaking reasonably comfortably. But speaking in small groups is different to giving a talk to hundreds of people, way different. And introducing myself is even more difficult.
So if you are going to Northern Voice you will understand if I seem to recognise you but stand there looking pathetic rather than introduce myself. But do say hi, unless you have the same lack of social skills :O)
